What are the most common causes of IBS & Bloating?
IBS does not have a single cause. Symptoms arise from a combination of functional factors such as gut sensitivity, motility, fermentation, and how an individual responds to certain foods. In some people, conditions like SIBO or clinically relevant infections may contribute to symptoms, but these are not assumed and are not present in everyone. Rather than chasing a single root cause, our programme focuses on identifying and managing the key drivers of symptoms using a structured, diet-led approach supported by appropriate testing.
How does the stool test work?
We use a clinical-grade stool test to provide additional context about digestion and the gut environment where appropriate. It assesses bacteria, yeast, parasites, and key digestive markers using a combination of DNA and culture-based analysis. The test is not used to diagnose IBS. Instead, it helps us exclude infection or inflammation and supports a personalised, diet-led strategy based on your symptoms and dietary history. The test kit is completed at home and returned directly to the lab using pre-paid packaging.
